Nothing by Janne Teller

Wow, this book was interesting.  I totally agree with the book jacket when it calls "Nothing" the "Lord of the Flies for the 21st Century."  At the beginning of the book a 7th grader decides life is meaningless and leaves school to climb a tree.  The rest of the class is so bothered by this they begin to gather things that will show him that life really does have meaning.  As the book progresses the items the students choose for each other to give get more extreme.  It really makes one think about that "mob mentality."  The group makes some morally questionable requests that as individuals they would never agree with, but everyone just goes along with the group.
